I've been researching Blockchain technologies for several years now. This, semi-technical presentation will describe the core ideas surrounding Blockchian and present clever use-cases for IoT applications. Many of the ideas in this presentation didn't even exist 3 years ago. Mountains have been moving in this space and the IoT community needs to be aware of them.

In many ways the narrative which argues for Blockchain sounds extremely similar to the early narrative for IoT. For example everyone talks about higher efficiency processes, distributed systems, better information faster, unique and new business models etc. For this reason, I believe Blockchain and the IoT have intrinsically linked futures.

In the years to come, we might see IoT devices not just as nodes on a network that collect data. Rather, they might become nodes on a network that has Blockchain technology at its backbone and the IoT nodes become participants in the upkeep of the Blockchain itself. IoT nodes might contribute in the form of mining, data storage or tracking of digital or hardware assets.

Hearing every day about all these crazy Cryptocurrencies and ICOs in the news can become overwhelming. This talk will cut through all the hype and mania and will articulate what the state of Blockchain is, where it excels, where it falls short and how the IoT and Blockchain will work together to shape our future.

Here's a link to a Blockchain talk I did in early 2018.  This talk will be similar but it will focus on IoT applications.
