This interactive session will walk you through building connected devices using wifi, LoRa, and Bluetooth, and how to combine these wireless technologies in cost effective ways. Attendees will gain an understanding of platforms and protocols that fit into common design patterns for IoT projects, with a focus on open source tools, accessibility, and complexity management.

We'll go into detail by demonstrating wireless projects, with a focus on
  • specific hardware for wireless modules from various sources (Digikey, ebay, Aliexpress)
  • visualizing data using InfluxDB & Grafana
  • interfacing with other systems using Node-RED.
Topics: ESP8266/ESP32, Nordic nRF51822, RFM95W, MQTT, NodeRed, Raspberry Pi, InfluxDB, Grafana
